OECTA COURTESY POLICY 2006-2007

  1. Through the Unit Office, 25-year watches will be purchased for teachers who have completed 25 years of service in the teaching profession. Names will be collated from the most recent seniority list, and members will be notified by letter at their school. A list will be provided to the staff representatives.

  2. Through the Unit Office, 15-year pens will be purchased for teachers who have completed 15 years of service in the teaching profession. Names will be collated from the most recent seniority list, and members will receive a notification letter in their schools. A list will be provided to the staff representatives.

  3. Retirees will receive an invitation and two complimentary tickets to the Retirement Dinner, by mail, at their home address. $150 will be allocated for a retirement gift for each retiring OECTA member. The school staff representative, or designate, is asked to coordinate the choice of gift and ensure the gift is presented.

  4. In the event of the death of an active OECTA member, the Staff Representative or designate will make the Unit Office aware of the charity/fund of the family’s choice, and a $200 donation, on behalf of Unit members, will be made.

  5. In the event of a death in a member’s immediate family, the Staff Representative or designate will purchase a mass on behalf of the Unit.

  6. In the event of a death of a retired OECTA member, the Staff Representative or designate will purchase a mass on behalf of the Unit.

  7. In the event of a death of a non-OECTA staff member, the Staff Representative will purchase a mass on behalf of the Unit.

  8. In the event of a death of a Board student, the Staff Representative or designate will purchase a mass card on behalf of the Unit members.

  9. Record expenses on a Unit expense claim form (including the name of the deceased) and fax the form and receipt(s) to the Unit Office.
