Local Bargaining Update
Your local Bargaining Team has met with the Board for eight days of negotiations so far, but have yet been able to reach tentative agreement. OECTA has solicited the school board on two occasions for additional dates in order to continue bargaining, but have yet to receive confirmation of any further times. When we negotiate with the board, information is kept confidential until we have reached a tentative agreement. As negotiations move forward you will be kept apprised of any updates.
Submission Deadlines to the 2015-16 Young Authors Awards are Approaching!
Entries must be submitted to OECTA School Association Representative by February 12, 2016, and winning school entries must be signed and submitted to the local unit office by February 19, 2016.
Submit your students’ writing through your OECTA School Association Representative with the completed Entry Form.
There are three level of competition: school, unit and provincial. The first place winners at each level advance to the next. OECTA is proud to sponsor the annual Young Authors Awards/Prix Jeunes Écrivains. The awards celebrate the writing talents and accomplishments of students, who submit short stories, poems, nonfiction articles and reports in both English and French.
The first place winners at the school level advance to the unit level and then to the Provincial competition. A collection of the winning entries is published in book form each year.
Provincial winners are announced at the June Council of OECTA Presidents and certificates will be issued to all provincial entries. Provincial plaques will be issued to all provincial winners and provincial winners will be published in a commemorative booklet.
