E a s t e r n   U p d a t e - Monday January 5, 2009

Barb and Dale would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy New Year, and to remind teachers of important clauses in our new Collective Agreement.

Elementary Teachers:
As of January 5, 2009, all elementary teachers should have no more than 100 minutes of supervision duty, averaged over two weeks. If any teacher is scheduled to do more than 100 minutes of supervision per week, please advise the OECTA office immediately.

Each (JK-8) classroom teacher shall be eligible for a half day relief for the purposes of conducting individual student assessments. These assessments are identified in the Board’s Assessment Data Availability Calendar. Arrangements for this half day shall be made through consultation and mutual agreement between the principal and each teacher. We would suggest that teachers begin scheduling these half days with their principal.

Secondary Teachers:
Retroactive to September 01, 2008, secondary teachers may be assigned 1800 minutes of on-call/supervision duty per year. Supervision now includes bus duty. Only one on-call can be assigned on any school day, with no more than two on-calls per week and no more than five on-calls per month.

Saff Reps:
We will be having a half day Staff Rep. in-service on January 20, 2009 beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the North Grenville Community Centre. More details to follow.

Faxed to schools: Jan. 05/09
