Important Collective Agreement Dates

April 1st is a significant date in the collective agreement. It is the date by which Teacher Requested Transfers must be submitted to the Board. It is also the date by which teachers may submit to the Principal their preference for teaching assignment and supervision schedule for the following school year. (A form that can be used for this purpose is appended.) As well, teachers on an unpaid leave of absence have until April 1st to inform the Board of their intention regarding employment for September.

PDT Update

Staff reps: attached to this update is a letter from Provincial OECTA President, Kevin O’Dwyer for distribution to all members. All teachers should read this letter regarding the current status of Provincial Discussion Table (PDT) negotiations. An OECTA analysis of the Provincial budget tabled on March 27th can be found on the Member’s Centre section of the OECTA provincial website.

Retirement Workshop

The location of the retirement workshop on April 14th has been set. It will be held at the North Grenville Municipal Centre in Kemptville on Highway 44. The workshop will run from 9:30 to 3:00. Please call the Unit office if you would like to attend.

Are You NDP?

If you are an NDP member and are interested in being a delegate to the ONDP convention being held on April 13th-15th in Hamilton, please contact the Unit office. OECTA will cover travel and accommodation expenses. Given the balance of power presently held by the NDP, influencing party direction at this convention will be of significant importance.
