The spring Unit General Meeting/Staff Representative Meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 15 at 5 p.m., St. Michael CHS, Kemptville for all teachers – permanent and occasional. RSVP to the Unit Office so dinner can be ordered 1-888-250-3799.

Pension News
Teachers who have taught in Newfoundland and Labrador, and earned pension credit there, can now have it transferred to the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan. Previously there has been no reciprocal agreement with this province. This also holds for transfers between the OTPP and the Ontario public sector pension plans. For information on transferring pension credit, visit the OTPP website at www.otpp.com or call 1-800-668-0105.

OECTA Kindergarten Matters Symposia
On August 20-21, 2007 OECTA Provincial is hosting a regional kindergarten symposium in Ottawa. The symposia are funded from the Ministry of Education Initiated PD funds which were provided to OECTA Provincial. Each OECTA Unit is allocated spaces for permanent and occasional teacher participants. Eastern has 17 provincially sponsored spaces.
Information about the symposium is on-line at www.oecta.on.ca and will also be sent to your schools. Registration for the Ottawa session is not open as yet, but will be available on-line in the near future.
