Teacher Professional Development Fund $512
Friday, June 2, 2006 is the final date for submission of the claim form and receipts to Karen McDowell at the Central Board Office in Kemptville. The forms are available in your schools.

Contract Update
Letter of Understanding Performance Appraisal p. 46 “It is understood that issues pertaining to Catholicity shall be dealt in accordance with the policy developed and agreed at the Institute of Catholic Education (ICE) Joint Committee.”
ICE, with its Catholic partners, developed statements which serve as a point of reference in the Teacher Performance Appraisal process for educators in the Catholic school system. ICE, with its Catholic partners, has stipulated that there will be no additional competencies or “look-fors” in the professional appraisal of teachers working in Catholic schools.

The Letter of Understanding in our current collective agreement restates the adherence to the ICE policy and does not allow for “Catholic competencies and look-fors” to be used in TPA. Teachers should not be asked to fill out forms with Catholic competencies and “look-fors”.

Article 28.06 Evaluation and Reports Teacher Performance Appraisal should be completed by May 31, 2006.

Letter of Understanding Teaching Assignments p. 47
Teachers should receive their teaching assignment for the upcoming school year by June 15th. If an adjustment is required (i.e. enrolment change; program), the teacher should be notified as soon as possible. This assists all teachers in preparing for the next school year. It is especially important for teachers changing grades and/or assignments and having to become familiar with new curriculum and resources, and to get a start on preparations for the students they will be teaching, particularly special needs students.

Unit Office Move
On Tuesday, June 6, 2006 the move to our new offices at Eastern Breeders Inc. at 595 County Road 44, Kemptville will take place. EBI is located south of Kemptville past Kemptville College, almost at 416 highway. The offices are at the south end of the building, with the entrance at the rear. Signage will be located at the front and side.
The office phones, fax and e-mail will, in all likelihood, be down from June 5th until sometime on June 7th. Calls can be made to Ann’s cell 1-613-284-6414 or Barb’s
1-613-864-4691. Messages for Sandy can be left at 284-6414. The office contact
numbers will be the same at the new location after the 7th. In an emergency, if you cannot reach us, call Provincial Office at 1-800-268-7230.
An improved layout with more space and greater accessibility will make the new offices a better option for the Unit.
