Happy World Teacher’s Day!
World Teachers’ Day is the brainchild of Norman Goble, a former Canadian teacher leader. Now celebrated annually, World Teachers’ Day profiles the work of over 30 million educators around the world.
The national theme for this year’s celebration is “Teachers: Inspiring students, awakening potential”.
“It is the dedication of Canada’s well-educated, highly professional teaching force that has created one of the best public education systems in the world,” says Canadian Teachers’ Federation (CTF) President Paul Taillefer. “By drawing on their substantial pool of experience, expertise and knowledge, Canadian teachers can continue to enhance public education in order to inspire students and awaken their potential.”
For more about World Teachers’ Day, visit the CTF website, www.ctf-fce.ca CTF is an alliance of 17 member organizations representing nearly 200,000 teachers across the country, the only organization that speaks nationally on behalf of the Canadian teaching profession.
E-Day is Tomorrow!
Election day is tomorrow, and at this time it is impossible to predict the outcome with any certainty. Some polls predict a Liberal minority, some a Liberal majority, and some a Conservative minority. As you know only one poll counts – and that one is tomorrow. In a race as close as this one has been, the efforts to get out the vote tomorrow will be critical. Many of our teachers are getting to the campaigns of the candidates we support to help pull the vote in those crucial last few hours! If you can, your help in this would be hugely appreciated! Nothing hurts more on election night than losing a tight race, knowing that a candidate’s identified voters just didn’t get to the polls. Be sure to vote, and help get out the vote!
