Long Term Disability
Negotiations last year resulted in salary increases retroactive to September 1, 2004. Deductions – income taxes; EI; CPP; TPP - are based on a percentage of salary. Retroactive payments for these deductions were taken from our June 30th pay, which included the retro salary.
Likewise, benefit premiums for life insurance and LTD are based on salary.
Provincial Office and OTIP entered into discussions on payment of retroactive LTD as a result of the collective bargaining settlements across the province. It was determined that the retro payments should be made in order to protect the interest of all members. Similarly, retroactive life insurance premiums must be remitted.
The deduction for the retroactive LTD premiums will be on the November 3rd pay, along with the regular biweekly deduction. Retroactive premiums for life insurance will be deducted on the December 1st pay.
Questions should be directed to the Unit Office.

Teacher Professional Development Fund ($512)
Claims for the $512 should be directed to Karen McDowell at the Central Board Office, Kemptville. The claim form is in your school. The reimbursement will be deposited directly into your account, separate from the regular pay.

OECTA’s third annual conference for beginning teachers, OECTA: The Next Generation, is scheduled for February 10-11, 2006 in Mississauga.
