Mary Lynne Sauve has been appointed Councillor SD&G for the remainder of the 2005-07 term of the current Unit Executive. The Executive looks forward to working with Mary Lynne over the coming school year.

PD Fund Applications
Applications for conferences and workshops for the end of October and November are due by Friday, October 20, 2006. The policy and necessary forms can be found on the Unit website www.easternoecta.ca

The Easterner
The first edition of the Unit newsletter is about to go to print. There is still available space for articles, jokes, etc. Tell us about a place you visit (conservation areas, playhouses) or hobbies you have taken up which would give others ideas for places to go and activities to do to unwind. Good workshops can be a topic! Submit to Barb by fax 613-258-0842 or better yet by e-mail b.dobrowolski@on.aibn.com

CTF Project Overseas 2007
This is a joint effort by CTF and its members to give professional assistance to teachers in developing countries – Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and occasionally elsewhere. Assignments are 4-6 weeks in duration in July and August, however some span most of the summer. Program dates are usually announced in February, after teams ae formed.

Information and applications are available through the Unit Office. Deadline is November 10, 2006.

OCT Elections
Have you voted yet? Midnight October 24 is the last opportunity to vote. Log on to the College website www.oct.ca to view candidate profiles and to vote. Again, we wish Shane Pisani, St. John CHS, good luck in his bid to represent our teachers, as well as Carol Clemance, Occasional Teacher with our Board.

Young Authors/Best Practice Program
Start collecting submissions for these programs. Information on divisions and categories will be sent to your schools by Provincial Office in the near future. Put aside exemplary writing from your students and start your own collection of professional writing you are doing as reflections or as part of your planning. Look in your portfolio. Dates for our local school and Unit judging, which will take place after the New Year, will be sent out from the Unit Office.
