Charitable Income Tax Receipt Forms are available in your schools. Teachers spend a large part of their salary on materials for their classrooms. With this initiative, teachers are able to claim these expenses on their income tax, providing the amount purchased in the calendar year is $100 or more, and receipts are attached to the form.
Collective Agreement – Benefits
Article 17.02 Extended Health and Vision Care: Paramedical expenses (i.e. physiotherapy, occupational therapy, massage) are covered, however there is a maximum expense limit of $15 per visit. A complete list for paramedical coverage is found in your “Group Benefit Plan” booklet for the teacher group.
Vision care maximums are $250 every 12 months for dependent children under 18 years of age and $250 every 24 months for other persons.
Prescription drugs, along with dispensing fees are a big cost to our benefit plan. Whenever possible, ask your doctor if there is lower cost alternative generic drug and if larger amounts can be provided on a prescription to save dispensing fees for multiple refills.
Many staff reps sent school supervision timetables along with schedules for itinerant teachers to the Unit Office in June or in the fall. To ensure the rights afforded to our members in the contract are followed, we ask that those who have not forwarded the timetables to us, please do so as soon as possible.
Please call the Unit Office to set a time and date for us to visit your school to discuss the collective bargaining survey.
