Minister Announuce PLP's Are Gone!

See the attached letter from the Minister of Education, who as he indicated in Northern Ontario last week, is announcing the end of the PLP program! As teachers it is refreshing to have a Minister who is committed to both respecting and supporting those in the teaching profession!

Early Numeracy Strategies Workshop

The Ottawa Carleton OECTA Unit, through OECTA Provincial P.D. Department, is offering an Early Numeracy Strategies Workshop for Friday, January 23 (6-9 p.m.) and
Saturday, January 24 (9-3 p.m.) at St. Paul's University. The workshop was originally offered as part of the Summer OECTA Program, but the course had to be cancelled. Twenty eight Ottawa Carleton members have confirmed their attendance, however there are 70 spaces available. Any teacher who is interested in attending is asked to register with Anne Lamont via e-mail at anne_lamont@occdsb.on.ca by Friday, January 12, 2004.

Staff Rep In-service

There will be a half day staff rep meeting on Wednesday January 21nd. This was originally scheduled for January 15th, but we believe it would be better for all of our staff reps if the meeting was held in the third week back. Mark January 21nd down on your calendars. Information about the agenda and location of the meeting will be sent out in the New Year.

Annual OECTA Curling Bonspiel

Mark February 7th down on your calendar as that is the date of our annual curling bonspiel to be held in Smiths Falls. Come out with your colleagues and enjoy the fun.

Christmas Wishes

On behalf of all of the members of your local Executive, we extend to each of you our warmest wishes for a blessed Christmas and peace and joy throughout the New Year.
