Your local OT Committee has arranged for a Professional Development opportunity for the Occasional Teachers in CDSBEO to take place on April 5, 2019, at our unit office in Kemptville. Feedback from members indicated that a workshop on technology would be beneficial in assisting students in the classroom. Register Now!
Jeff Cummings from the Wellington Catholic School Board will be presenting the workshop titled “Technology 101 (Digital Tools)”
Description: Are you interested in learning how to integrate Digital tools in your class? Do you want to get started using GSuite, Office365 or Desire2Learn? Interested in learning about using safe approved Ministry of Education tools such as Mindomo or Pixton Comic Creator? This workshop is for educators who want to learn the basics on how to use these tools to communicate and collaborate with students in innovative ways and enable them to use technology to be creative in their assignments. Educators will learn how to link technology with effective pedagogical principles in order to change instruction to align with 21st Century fluencies in the classroom. Educators will have the opportunity to try a variety of engaging tools with the goal of finding a few to integrate in their class immediately.
Technology 101 (Digital Tools)
When: April 5, 2019
Where: Eastern OECTA Office
33 Somerville Rd.
Time: 9:30 a.m.
Members of Eastern OECTA will be electing a new executive for the 2019-2021 school years. All permanent and occasional teachers of the Eastern OECTA Unit will be receiving electronic ballots for any required elections. If all positions are contested, members could be asked to vote on three separate elections (see election procedures). The Occasional Teacher Representative will be elected at the Occasional Teacher general meeting in the Fall.
Occasional Teachers are eligible to vote for candidates running for executive positions at each stage of the election process. The election for CEO occurs after the election of the president and candidates vying for this position must be from the opposite panel of the President-elect. The CEO position can only be voted on by members of the panel that the candidate represents (eg. Elementary or Secondary). Please take the time to know the candidates and exercise your democratic right at each stage of the election procedure.
More information will be provided as the elections approach. Watch for all election updates.
We encourage all Occasional Teachers to visit and register to the “Member Only” section of our website. A digital copy of your Collective Agreement can be accessed and downloaded from that section, as well as other documents and forms. Information and application forms for access to our PD fund are also found on the website.
After you complete the registration form, your name will have to be confirmed as a member before you are provided access. It can take up to a couple of days to approve new registrants.
